Beta 0.3 Released
The day has finally arrived! The new version of Rollincube is here!
Although, well, I should call it RollingQuest! And the first change we have is the name itself, now it makes more sense with the type of game it is.
But that's not all, we have tons of new changes and above all many new levels and surprises!
Some of the new features that we can find in this new version are the following:
- New Themes: More than 10 new themes have been included, some imported and adapted from Cubosphere, others are remakes (or remasters) of Kula World themes and others are totally new!
- Dozens of new ball designs, many of them yet to be discovered!
- Ball editor! Yes, you read that right, now you can create custom ball designs using the new editor!
- New game mode! Exploration Mode: You don't have to worry about the score here and you can focus on completing the levels the way you want and with no limit on attempts! You can also replay levels as many times as you want, even playing levels you've already completed!
- New Campaigns! Multiball and a large part of the Cubosphere campaign! We have 18 of the 26 worlds that the original campaign had. The missing 8 will be included in a future update as soon as they are finished, so we won't have to wait another year!
- New type of element in the levels, the Decorations: They are what the name suggests, decorative elements that cannot be interacted with, but that can add variety to the game. They are still in the testing phase and we have very few, but more will be included in the future.
- Dark Mode: You can now enable the level to be completely dark, making it much more difficult to navigate through. There are new items that provide light to the ball, as well as some decorations that are capable of lighting up. Dark mode can now be toggled during gameplay with a new item or by using scripts.
- Lua Scripts: Indeed, levels now feature a scripting system using the Lua language to further customize levels. You can practically modify the behavior of anything! The level editor now features a script editor that provides all the documentation and shows everything that can be done!
- Messages: Messages can now be displayed during the level, with a new item or by using scripts. They are fully customizable, support multiple languages, colors, and a thousand other things!
- Unlockables: Some of the new features mentioned above will be locked, and will have to be unlocked by playing the levels of the different old and new campaigns!
Due to the name change, save data will now be saved in a different folder. The game will detect if you have data from previous versions of Rollingcube and will ask you if you want to import that data. If you accept, you will have everything you had in the previous version, if not, you will start from scratch.
It is possible to manually copy this data. Just copy the contents of the "Rollingcube" folder, which is where the old data is, and paste it into the new "RollingQuest" folder that will have been created in the same place where the Rollingcube folder is.
This is just a preview of all the new things you're going to find! We hope you like this new update and that you can enjoy it to the fullest!
Don't hesitate to ask any questions or problems you have, you can find us on the Discord server. Usually one of us is available at any time!
Now, enjoy!
